For a unique shopping world: igus low-cost robots in the desired design

Robots are increasingly finding their way from industry to retail. There, they ensure rapid automation of processes and are also a real eye-catcher. Users place high demands on design and reliability at a cost-effective price. This is why igus now offers its low-cost robot robolink DP – made of high-performance plastics – also in the customer-specific desired design.

Online shopping and ordering is already commonplace: whether it’s the new trousers, the SLR camera for holidays or sushi for dinner. Within a few minutes, the delivery service or the next day’s parcel carrier is at the door with the order – convenient and easy. But the new buying behaviour is causing increasing competitive pressure on the stationary retail trade. Intelligent automation systems for fast shopping are in demand, in the supermarket or even in the furniture store. Solutions can be juice dispensers, bread slicers or self-service checkouts with weighing technology, in which igus motion plastics – such as lubricant-free iglidur plain bearings and maintenance-free drylin linear guides – ensure wear-resistant movements. At the same time, retailers such as fashion houses and restaurants must develop store and design concepts that offer the customer a new experience. Robots are a popular means of choice because they are not only a real eye-catcher but also a practical automation solution. They can hand out prizes from competitions, mix cocktails or even cover pizza. So far, this is expensive fun that is rarely found in Germany. Here igus now offers a new cost-effective solution with its robolink DP directly from stock, which the customer can customize.

Low-cost robot in the outfit of your choice

Last year, igus presented its robolink DP robot arm for the first time, which consists mainly of plastic components. The customer now has the option of designing the robotic arm with four or five axes in the desired design. Whether in the corporate design of the company or as a barista robot in an elegant white look, the user can choose freely from the RAL color palette. The compact, lightweight robolink DP relies entirely on the advantages of igus motion plastics: light, lubricant-free and maintenance-free, low-noise, durable and cost-effective in production. The articulated arm can be individually configured via the RBTX.com platform and, depending on the type of application, can also be equipped with grippers, cameras or sensors from various manufacturers. At the EuroShop in Düsseldorf in Hall 11, Stand E40, igus will show visitors the possibilities that the robolink DP offers for stationary retail trade.
