Linde Material Handling won two awards in the “materialfluss PRODUCTS OF THE YEAR 2021” readers’ poll: In the industrial trucks category, the Linde R-MATIC reach truck took first place. The access authorization system “Linde Safety Guard: Door Control” also made it to the top of the podium in the category of identification technology. Here, too, it took first place. The award ceremony was held as a virtual event during the “materialfluss world + conference 2021” from March 22 to 26, 2021.

The readers alone decide which product will climb onto the winners’ podium in the “materialfluss PRODUCTS OF THE YEAR” competition: what they find good will be awarded a prize. For the second time after 2020, the trade medium for intralogistics and logistics launched this award and called for online voting from mid-December 2020 to mid-February 2021. The editors nominated 79 products in eight categories, and the best three in each category were awarded prizes. Around 20,000 votes were cast by readers.

In the industrial trucks category, the Linde R-MATIC automated reach truck was one of the finalists, leaving all the other innovations behind in the end. Its special features: The front safety sensor integrated into the chassis enables maneuvering in an aisle width of just 2.95 meters. The automated reach truck’s lift height of eleven meters is also unique in the industry. Another unique selling point is the auto-calibrating 3D camera with new software generation, which allows even more precise determination of the load position. And faster object detection saves 15 to 20 seconds of time for each pick or drop. “The reach truck is considered the king of warehouse trucks. With the second generation of the automated Linde R-MATIC, we are offering our customers an even more powerful vehicle that is also reliable and flexible,” says Alexandra Mertel, Product Manager Automation & Intralogistics Solutions at Linde Material Handling. “We are delighted that this achievement has been recognized by the most knowledgeable jury imaginable, namely readers from the ranks of user companies.”

In the Ident Technology category, the new “Door Control” module of the Linde Safety Guard was convincing. On the one hand, the intelligent access authorization system provides valuable services in preventing door collision damage, and on the other, it regulates entry into defined areas: Diesel forklifts are not allowed to drive into sensitive food production areas, and indoor forklifts are prevented from driving out of the hall to the outside.

The door control is synchronized with the speed of the approaching forklifts, and the door opens and closes precisely. If there is no authorization, the travel speed is reduced and a visual warning is given. “Our customers were very convinced by the application. This encouraged us to enter the competition,” sums up Ron Winkler, Sales Manager EMEA, Linde Safety Guard. “The award we have now received is a great confirmation for our agile team of sales and development staff.”
