New handheld terminal series released by CASIO

Casio Computer, announced today the release of a new handheld terminal series with built-in laser scanner, featuring an IP67 rating for dust and water-proof performance, and a special grip design for comfortable operation.

In 2006, Casio launched its line of DT-930 handheld terminals with laser scanner. The DT-930 is drop-resistant from a height of 1.8 meters, and has an IP54 rating for dust and splash-proof performance. The DT-930 became popular for logistics operations such as management of goods in and out, and is also useful for retailing operations involving barcode reading, such as ordering and controling inventory.

Offering even tougher performance for the harsh environments of frontline operations, the new DT-970 series features superior operability based on human-centered design for interactive systems (ISO 9241-210). The DT-970M51E has a straight scanning angle, while the DT-970M50E has a downward scanning angle, offering two convenient models to meet diverse user needs. Typical application templates have been prepared for the DT-970 series for different types of operations such as management of goods in and out and controlling inventory. This reduces the work required to develop specific operation applications.

Better performance in harsh environments
The drop resistance has been improved to 2 meters and is rated IP67 for dust and water-proof performance (no dust penetration, and no water penetration when immersed temporarily at certain depths). The device operates at subzero temperatures (down to -20°C) and can be used in the rain, in dusty locations, and in low-temperature warehouses.

More convenient
The new models feature a rounded hand-fitting shape, while a textured surface has been added to the back for easier gripping. Frequently used keys have been positioned within easy finger reach, and backlight keys enable use in the dark. The monochrome LCD screen has two backlighting colors (white and red). In the case of an operation error, the red backlighting activates to alert the user.

Easier to operate
The DT-970 series delivers an exceptionally long period of continuous operation (approx. 200 hours with two AA-size alkaline batteries) and can also operate using rechargeable AA NiMH batteries approved by Casio. Thanks to Ver.2.1 + EDR Bluetooth® technology, barcodes scanned with the device can be transmitted to a tablet terminal.* A scan width control (laser beam swing angle control) function is also included to prevent accidental reading of adjacent bar codes.
