The building materials merchant Ollier Bois, located in Villefranche sur Saône in France, has expanded its storage capacity with cantilever and pallet racks from OHRA. The rack systems from the Kerpen-based company are also deployed in the specialist timber and board merchant’s new warehouse. OHRA not only supplied the warehouse technology, it also analysed the actual situation on-site, manufacturing the racks tailor-made to meet Ollier Bois’s requirements.

With 30 employees and a turnover of 15 million euros, Ollier Bois is one of the largest raw wood and building timber merchants. In its own workshop it also cuts wood and board according to customer wishes.

In order to increase storage space and offer customers a better service, the company expanded its capacity in 2014, building a new display warehouse at the same time.

Ollier Bois decided to use pallet and cantilever racks from OHRA. The company, with headquarters in Kerpen, Germany, is the European market leader for cantilever racks and has specialised in rack systems for the timber and building materials trade. According to Ollier Bois, OHRA not only offered the best price-performance ratio, the quality of its racks also proved decisive. All the supporting elements are manufactured from solid-walled, hot-rolled steel. The profiles can yield elastically in the event of collisions, thus maintaining their statical properties. The stable construction enables greater storage heights and load bearing capacity. At Ollier Bois the racks are around 7,000 millimetres high with the top storage level at a height of 6,000 millimetres. The racks installed in the outside area at Ollier Bois were additionally equipped with a roof directly mounted on the rack stands – an economical alternative to a conventional warehouse construction.

In total Ollier Bois invested around €500,000 in the new warehouse technology. OHRA delivered and installed the entire rack system within the space of two months.
