Rising sales volumes require more powerful warehouse logistics. To make future delivery processes faster and more cost‑efficient, the Lower Austrian dairy company NÖM relied on the expertise of clad rack specialist voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik.

The equation seems simple: rising sales volumes require more powerful warehouse logistics. To make future delivery processes faster and more cost‑efficient, the Lower Austrian dairy company NÖM relied on the expertise of clad rack specialist voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik. From October 2025 to March 2026, a high bay warehouse more than 30 meters high was constructed in Baden using silo construction, designed to sustainably strengthen supply reliability for the traditional company.
Not quite so simple, however, was the fact that the high bay warehouse was built during a winter that has become something of a rarity in Central Europe. Icy cold, frost and snow certainly made conditions more difficult — but they did not slow down construction progress or jeopardize the project schedule.
High‑performance delivery and warehouse logistics are among the key success factors in the food industry — and this also applies to NÖM AG, a leading domestic dairy company headquartered in Baden, Lower Austria. Located in the so called “Thermenregion”, a wine‑growing area around 26 kilometers south of Vienna, the Krems‑based high bay warehouse specialist constructed a fully automated, approximately 30‑meter‑high silo‑type high bay warehouse between October 2025 and March 2026. Where the Emperor and his family once resided, several hundred million kilograms of milk from more than 2,200 local farmers are now processed and distributed throughout Austria and abroad.
Without the right logistical framework, it is hardly possible to reliably serve a growing market. KommR Ing. Josef Simon, Member of the Management Board of NÖM AG, confirms this:
We operate successfully on the international market. Over the past five years, we have almost doubled our sales — and for that, we of course need a large high bay warehouse.
With voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik, the company found a partner that ranks among the leading high bay warehouse specialists thanks to numerous successfully implemented projects.
Although the clad rack business is a highly international one, says Roland Stichauner, Managing Director of voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik, it is still something special to build a new warehouse in the region close to the company’s own site.
We are very pleased to be able to support a large Lower Austrian company like NÖM from the initial development phase through to realization.
confirmed also Gerald Klein, Managing Director of voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik. The close regional ties and the spirit of partnership formed a solid foundation for a project focused equally on growth, modernization and reliability.
