Sonceboz releases new smart slimline actuator for electrically controlled thermostat

SONCEBOZ’s new smart slimline stepper 5810 offers a lightweight, flat, and compact design for easy mechanical integration. Despite its small size  – only 25 mm tall –  it easily provides a torque of 2 Nm. Watertight, it withstands harsh conditions such as engine vibrations, extreme temperatures (up to 140°C) and thermal shocks.

It features LIN bus communication capability with integrated motor control, and can thus easily be integrated into existing electronics architectures. The BLDC driving mode enables full angular control through three digital Hall sensors allowing precise positioning in closed-loop operation. This rugged, smart, permanent, magnet-based actuator is an ideal example of a compact, precise, and reliable mechatronics solution that enables advanced engine control and diagnostics. It is a perfect fit for thermal management applications. This smart slimline actuator is expected to mass-production in 2014.

Sonceboz cares about the stringent EURO and EPA legislations, and focuses on the electrification and motorization of related thermal management applications, e.g.: thermostat, water valves, waste heat recovery, and hybrid pumps for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and trucks.
