TGW is building a highly automated central hub in Berkel en Rodenrijs for the Dutch automotive spare parts specialist Fource. The customer will thus bundle its intralogistics at one location and take an important step in optimising its supply chain. It also lays the foundation for growth in the coming years. Construction of the building has already started in December 2019, and the FlashPick® solution is scheduled to go live in the autumn of 2021.

Fource is part of the US LKQ Group and sells automotive components, tools and workshop supplies via a network of wholesalers. The company’s core markets are the Netherlands and Belgium, with 3,000 employees. Recently the spare parts specialist commissioned TGW to build a greenfield logistics hub. “For TGW this is an important order and a great reference”, underlines David Hibbett, CSO TGW Northern Europe.

Optimized Supply Chain

With the 50,000 m² new building, Fource is consolidating its intralogistics for the Netherlands at a central location. The automotive aftermarket specialist can thus further optimise its supply chain and reduce throughput times. Due to its spectacular architecture, the Fulfilment Center is also known as “The Bridge”, and is intended to represent the extraordinary combination of man and technology.

Powerful and flexible

The core of the highly automated solution is FlashPick® – with ten aisles and over 180,000 container storage locations. 200 energy-efficient Stingray shuttles take care of fast storage and retrieval. Together with twelve PickCenter One goods-in and 16 high-performance picking workstations, the shuttle forms the heart of the system. The scope of supply also includes special machines for the automatic erecting and sealing of shipping cartons as well as tote stackers and lifters.

The TGW Software Suite handles the warehouse management including Warehouse Control System (WCS) and Material Flow Controller (MFC). TGW Commander takes care of the control.

Lifetime services

Fource also relies on TGW’s competence in day-to-day operations: within the scope of a lifetime services contract. A team of on-site specialists works together with the customer’s technicians to ensure that the system runs smoothly – thus providing maximum availability.
