Getting the maximum efficiency out of every warehouse – this is the approach Unitechnik takes with its customer solutions. But first it is necessary to find out whether an automatic or manual warehouse variant is more economical. Individual requirements make a general answer impossible. In order to nevertheless give customers an initial indication, Unitechnik has developed a digital, anonymous and free tool.

Whether automated logistics is the right solution for the customer depends on various factors: How many storage locations are needed? What performance is required? How much space is available? How many personnel are needed? To make the comparison of the two warehouse options as simple and as clear as possible, Unitechnik, system integrator for in-plant logistics, offers a tool that can be used anonymously and free of charge on the Internet.

The right warehouse in just a few steps

In the first step, the tool asks for the type of load carriers (bins or pallets) and the number of storage locations required. Based on this information, a complex model calculates the basic data for two possible storage variants. On the output screen, an automatic and a manual storage solution are compared. The following parameters are output for both variants:

  • Number of storage locations
  • Performance / bin movements
  • Operational staff
  • Floor area of warehouse and pre-zone
  • Investment cost budget for the warehouse

The output warehouse parameters show the interested party the approximate costs to be expected for the two warehouse options. The user can now weigh the investment and personnel costs for both options against each other and obtain an initial indication of which variant is more economical in his case.

If the customer already has more specific data at this planning stage, such as dimensions and weight of the load, required capacity, and available hall dimensions, Unitechnik offers an even more specific evaluation. In the second step, this information can be entered into a questionnaire and sent to Unitechnik. The general contractor then evaluates them in detail and creates an individual solution proposal. To receive the results of the second step, only the customer’s e-mail address is required; this part of the tool is also free of charge.

The warehouse planning tool serves as an initial orientation and does not replace logistics planning.
