New module for Unitechnik master computer UniCAM.23 optimizes process for warehouse management

For the operator of a precast concrete plant, managing his outdoor warehouse is sometimes a time-consuming task. The “Easy Storage” function ensures an optimized process. The module is an integral part of the latest Unitechnik master computer UniCAM.23. It is operated by touch via a forklift guidance system, and the data is automatically synchronized with the production master computer. The storage location designations can be individually defined.

Warehouse management is one of Unitechnik’s core competencies; after all, the Wiehl-based automation specialist builds turnkey logistics centers in its logistics systems division. But Unitechnik has also already administered several precast components warehouses in the division for precast concrete plants – from the cantilever warehouse to the manual area warehouse to the automated gantry crane. The new “Easy Storage” module is based on the findings of these projects and is now an integral part of UniCAM.23. The solution was presented for the first time at Bauma 2022.

When a stack or rack is reported finished in production, its data is transferred to one or more forklift terminals. Afterwards, forklift drivers take over the finished parts and place them in any free storage location. The topology of the outdoor warehouse and thus the designation of the storage locations can be defined as desired. By entering the location designation at the forklift terminal, the driver books the load unit to the corresponding storage location. The order number is then sufficient for retrieval. The responsible forklift driver is then shown all the load units contained in the order along with the corresponding storage location. If he then removes a stack of slaps, for example, he can unload it with a single click and thus release the storage location again.

The data exchange between the forklift terminal and the UniCAM.23 host computer takes place via WLAN. However, it is not necessary to supply the entire outdoor warehouse with WLAN. Bookings can also be made in offline mode and are synchronized with the master computer as soon as the forklift has reception again. Furthermore, the software structure of “Easy Storage” is very open and allows the connection of transport or yard management software. In addition, automated transport or storage systems can be easily integrated.
