The innovative optical edge sensor PosCon 3D by Baumer is the most powerful in its class. It reliably will master tasks which used to be up to complex laser measuring systems. In parallel, PosCon 3D provides impressing convenience in both operation and installation.

Multiple capabilities make the sensor a versatile solution to reliably detect edge positions and object or gap width. There is no need for a separate reflector. Object movements towards and away from the sensor within the measuring field will not impair the measuring result. PosCon 3D will reliably identify any object – independent of its color and surface.

The qTarget design is referencing the optical sensor axis to the mounting holes. This allows for easy system integration in an early planning stage using the sensor CAD data.

Operation is as easy: Install, align to the object and select the required language on the touch display – that’s it.

PosCon 3D provides utmost application flexibility. Edge positions are reliably detected even when installed in any non-vertical position within a lateral angle up to 30°. The object width is identified within fractions of a second and with an accuracy of 2/10 of a millimeter – no matter what’s the object position within the measuring field.

PosCon 3D can also identify the center of an object. As soon as the object is outside the tolerance range, the sensor will trigger the switching output.
The edge sensor is predestined for gap control in packaging applications. Precisely measuring the gap between the closure flaps, PosCon 3D will immediately identify any still open box.
