Metallux industrial joysticks and sensors can be found in numerous applications
worldwide. The Swabian company has been developing and manufacturing in
Leutenbach near Stuttgart for more than three decades.

Metallux AG has specialized in the development and manufacture of sensors and industrial
joysticks. The extensive portfolio ranges from pressure sensors and pressure transmitters,
linear and rotary sensors to high-voltage and power resistors and industrial joysticks. All
products are based on proven thick-film technology, for which the owner-managed, medium-
sized company has numerous patents.

The company attaches great importance to the quality and reliability of its products, which
are all characterized by high measuring accuracy, excellent long-term stability and a good
price/performance ratio.

Extensive joystick portfolio

The portfolio ranges from thumb to finger to hand joysticks and is very extensive.
They are all ergonomically designed, highly precise, compact and robust. Other advantages
include low weight, long service life and low power consumption. Most Metallux products are
available in Hall and/or potentiometer technology.

Wide range of applications

The joysticks can be used in a variety of applications. They are an important element in radio
remote controls as well as in the drive and function control of:

  • Off-highway vehicles
  • industrial trucks
  • agricultural and construction machinery
  • municipal, mining and rail vehicles
  • tractors and diggers
  • forklifts
  • aerial work platforms
  • cranes
  • ships and boats
  • in medical technology and wheelchairs

Hand joystick MJ-H10

Modern agricultural machines, but also construction machines, municipal machines,
excavators and cranes are true technological wonders today. This is already evident in the
driver’s cabin, which in many vehicles resembles an aircraft cockpit and is equipped with
monitors, complex control panels and joysticks. Metallux has developed the MJ-H10 hand
joystick for these applications.

State-of-the-art technology, a robust construction and an ergonomic design make this
multiaxial joystick the ideal control element for demanding functions.

The base unit is solidly built and made of aluminium and stainless materials, the bearing is
made of a high-performance plastic. The handle is symmetrical and therefore suitable for both
right- and left-handers.

A major advantage is the very low installation depth of 36 mm: this means that this joystick can
be easily installed even in the narrow housing of armrests or control panels. The modern, low-wear Hall sensor technology ensures a long service life.

Alternatively, the joystick is also available with potentiometer elements, which offers enormous
advantages, especially in remote control applications, due to the low power consumption.
The hand-joystick is available in several different standard versions, which differ in the type,
number and arrangement of the operating elements on the thumb plate.

In addition, Metallux offers customised solutions in the form of a modular system. The thumb
plate is freely configurable: the operating elements such as rockers, thumbwheel and buttons
can be combined and arranged as desired.

It is also possible to design the handle shapes according to the customer requirements.
The base unit is modular, so that it is possible to equip them with mechanical detents or
friction hold.

Another big advantage is that base unit and handle will be available separately. This means
that the Metallux base unit can be fitted to a customised handle, but also Metallux handles can
be fitted to third-party base units.

Last but not least: the Metallux hand-joystick MJ-H10 makes an important contribution to
sustainability and economy: the operating elements that are exposed to the greatest stress are
available as spare parts and can be replaced on site. In this way, a defective joystick can be
repaired on site in a short time – this saves time and money because downtimes can be
avoided and machine availability significantly increased.

New thumb joysticks MJ-T10 and MJ-T11 in hall technology

With a total length of approx. 25 mm, a diameter of approx. 18 mm and an installation depth
of approx. 13 mm, the MJ-T10 is one of the world’s smallest 2-axis, redundant industrial
thumb joysticks in Hall technology. Due to their small size and installation dimensions, it and
the slightly larger MJ-T11 can be perfectly integrated into applications that require precise
control but offer little space: as a control element in hand joysticks and armrests as well as in
radio remote controls, for wheelchairs and in Off-Highway vehicles.

Extensive standard range and customised solutions

Metallux not only has an extensive standard range of thumb, finger or hand joysticks. One
focus is the development of individual, customised solutions. The specialists at Metallux
always find a way to tailor a product exactly to an application.

Extensive application expertise

Metallux supplies a wide range of industries. Products can be found in medical technology,
materials handling and lifting technology as well as in energy and environmental technology,
but of course also in vehicle construction through to construction and special vehicles. A big
plus here is the extensive application expertise of the highly qualified Metallux employees as
well as the individual and personal advice.

From sample quantities to large series

Metallux manufactures exclusively in Germany: from sample quantities to large series of
several hundred thousand pieces. Modern, automated production processes are used. A
clean room is just as much part of the equipment as high-quality inspection and testing
strategies.
