The new SPOT25S Hall-effect single-turn rotary encoder with an analogue output from MEGATRON is programmed directly by the customer on the application using a DIP switch. Only one angle sensor for different angles and directions of rotation is required for commissioning in the field. This reduces manufacturing costs, simplifies logistics and optimises cycle times. Thanks to its compact case diameter of 25 millimetres, the angle sensor is particularly well-suited for use in drive units for position feedback. This, in combination with its long service life, translates into excellent value for money.

The SPOT25S from MEGATRON detects angles from 0..20° to 0..360° with an absolute resolution of 12 bit at 360°. A direction switch defines the direction of rotation (CW/CCW) and can be changed after programming. This way, pre-programmed sensors can also be adapted to the required direction of rotation using a DIP switch before installation. Following configuration, the operating interface is sealed with a label to safeguard against unauthorised access. Thanks to its compact case diameter of 25 millimetres, the angle sensor is particularly well-suited for use in drive units for position feedback. As a replacement to a potentiometer, the contactless measuring principle of the SPOT25S enables secure, wear-free operation and thereby increases the availability of the entire system.

The sensors feature an analogue output (0..5 V/0..3.3 V ratiometric or 0..10 V). Limited voltage ranges (such as 0.5..4.5 V for wire break detection) and an I2C interface and PWM signal are also available on request. The uninterruptible power supply is 5 V/3.3 V (switchable) or 24 V. A power saving mode with < 1 mA is available on request for battery-operated handheld devices, for example. The integrated plug enables quick connection with protection against polarity reversal.

The high-end polymer bearings support average rotating speeds up to 3,000 revolutions per minute and have a service life of >100 million shaft revolutions. The long service life of the angle sensor can be traced back to two design features. The magnetic Hall-effect sensor works without any deterioration over time, while the polymer plain bearings are designed for over 100 million revolutions, thereby offering optimal value for money.

Connection pads with 2.54-milimetre contact spacing are located on the laterally protruding circuit board. In addition to customer-specific plugs, it is also possible to use connecting plugs to directly connect the sensor with a circuit board. Customer-specific modifications such as other wave geometries, cable assembly tasks, radial plug outlet, special plugs or terminal blocks or a mechanical end stop are possible with medium-sized production batches.
