Photron launches motion analysis software “PFA”

In response to requests from our customers who wish to be able to obtain quantitative data from their high-speed images, Photron is pleased to announce the launch of motion analysis software “Photron FASTCAM Analysis” (PFA).

camera control softwareA large proportion of high-speed camera users will, from time to time, wish to process the images that they have acquired to obtain some basic information about position, velocity and acceleration of an object.

For the majority of users a brief evaluation of the image sequence is all that is required to make some small design changes and move the project forward. It is an advantage if the analysis and subsequent export of data can be performed quickly avoiding user intervention and the need to employ several iterations of often complex analysis parameters.

This was our concept for PFA and by successfully implementing these ideas within a cost effective package, PFA is perfect for those new to motion analysis or who require rapid feedback during testing.

Operation
Photron FASTCAM Analysis is automatically launched, and images imported from within Photron FASTCAM Viewer.

Up to 5 tracking markers can be placed on the image, the image calibrated and either a static or dynamic coordinate system applied. Values for displacement, velocity and acceleration along with associated graphs are updated in real-time.

Once analysis is complete it is possible to achieve synchronized playback of the data graphs and images and this information can then instantly be exported to a comma separated values (csv) file for further processing within programs such as Microsoft Excel or MATLAB.
