Sensirions differential pressure sensors offers efficient smart power management for oxygenconcentrator

Patients with respiratory impairments are often supplied with concentrated oxygen through a nasal cannula. The oxygen is often generated in a portable device – a so-called oxygenconcentrator – or dispensed from a tank – a so called oxygenconserver – and then released to the patient. To increase the use time per battery or tank of these devices, the supply of oxygen should be limited to the inhalation part of the patient’s breathing cycle. This is where Sensirion’s differential pressure sensors come into play. Built into the device, they are sensitive enough to resolve the breathing cycle of the patient through the long and thin cannula. As such, they enable breath-triggered release of oxygen and smart power management of the device. Because of their excellent stability and repeatability, Sensirions differential pressure sensors can additionally be used in the right design to quantify the flow of oxygen which provides clinically relevant insights to the therapy of the patient.
