Guaranteed 5 million cycles at a low price with slim igus control cables

New chainflex M control cables have a 20 percent thinner construction and thus save space in the energy chain.

The fact that quality and a low price are not mutually exclusive is now proven by igus with its further developed chainflex M cable series. After four years of research, the motion cable specialist is now presenting the new CF880/CF881 and CF890/CF891 control cables at the SPS. A cable structure that is up to 20 percent thinner ensures smaller bending radii. This allows the user to save installation space, space in the energy chain and thus costs. The chainflex M series has a tested service life of five million cycles and a 36-month warranty.

A good e-chain cable at a low price: this was and is the promise behind the chainflex M cable series, which igus presented for the first time in 2013. Since then, a lot has happened not only in mechanical engineering, but also in cable development. Due to the increasing automation in the industry, faster and faster machines are in demand. Accordingly, the development of lighter and smaller cables is also required in order to reduce high accelerated masses. Therefore igus is working on the further development of its cost-effective cable series without increasing costs. 2015 is the first breakthrough: Instead of one million guaranteed cycles, the manufacturer promises a service life of over five million cycles and that at the same price. Just in time for the SPS, igus is now presenting its next development success: “Thanks to a new design structure, we can produce the chainflex M control cables up to 20 percent thinner. Our customers benefit from this because the cables have a smaller bending radius and take up less space in the energy chain. This enables the user to save costs,” explains Rainer Rössel, business unit manager for chainflex cables at igus GmbH. The new chainflex M cable series is now available as control cables with PVC (CF880/CF881) or igusPUR outer jacket (CF890/CF891) with or without shielding. The cables are particularly suitable for short travels on simple classic machines, for example in stone, paper or wood processing.

Guaranteed safety at a reasonable price

igus has been a specialist in the development of cables designed for use in the energy chain for over 25 years. The company tests its products under realistic conditions in its own 3,800 square meter test laboratory in Cologne, Germany, until total failure. igus has invested four years in the further development and long-term tests of its established chainflex M cable series. The laboratory showed that the cables can cope with five million cycles without any problems. For all cables, including the optimized chainflex M series, igus can offer a 36-month guarantee, unique in the world, based on its test data.
