The MK16 Reed Sensor, an over-molded sensor and the MK23 a magnetically actuated, open Reed proximity Switches for SMT mounting are two surface mount sensors which can be ideal used in a gear shifter application. In opposite to other technology the reed sensor require no external readout electronics, which reduces the cost and guarantee an easy handling. The reed sensor send a direct signal to the micro computer. Additionally though the use of Reed Sensors you can reduce components which reduce the power consumption from the battery, because reed sensors need no power consumption in the stand by (Powerless switching). Another good reason for a reed switch is there is no switching noise, the switch is hermetically sealed and the pins could not oxidate – so it doesn’t matter if any liquid or dust come into the gearshift box – our Reed Switches works absolutely reliable.
