WEBER-HYDRAULIK is expanding its expertise in larger-sized hydraulic cylinders

WEBER-​HYDRAULIK GMBH has sys­tem­at­i­cally ex­panded its de­vel­op­ment and man­u­fac­tur­ing ex­per­tise in the field of hy­draulic cylin­ders and now also pro­duces large-​diameter cylin­ders for high-​performance ap­pli­ca­tions at its Güglingen fa­cil­ity. While pro­duc­tion was orig­i­nally de­signed for inner di­am­e­ters of up to 160 mm, larger sizes have been grad­u­ally de­vel­oped, in­dus­tri­al­ized, and tran­si­tioned to se­ries pro­duc­tion since 2018. The com­pany cur­rently man­u­fac­tures hy­draulic cylin­ders with inner di­am­e­ters up to 300 mm. De­pend­ing on the de­sign and ap­pli­ca­tion, the pos­si­ble outer di­am­e­ters can be sig­nif­i­cantly larger. In this way, WEBER-​HYDRAULIK is re­spond­ing to the grow­ing de­mands of so­phis­ti­cated ap­pli­ca­tions and mar­kets.

Continuous Expansion of Expertise

The ex­pan­sion of cylin­der di­men­sions is the re­sult of a de­vel­op­ment and qual­i­fi­ca­tion process span­ning sev­eral years. Since around 2018, WEBER-​HYDRAULIK has been sys­tem­at­i­cally work­ing to de­sign and test larger hy­draulic cylin­ders and tran­si­tion them to se­ries pro­duc­tion. The start­ing point was es­tab­lished ap­pli­ca­tions in the medium-​size range, from which the port­fo­lio was grad­u­ally ex­panded into higher per­for­mance and size classes.

Today, the Güglingen fa­cil­ity man­u­fac­tures, among other things, large-​dimension bal­last cylin­ders as well as high-​performance sup­port cylin­ders for de­mand­ing ap­pli­ca­tions. The prod­uct range is com­ple­mented by ad­di­tional bolt-​pulling cylin­der vari­ants de­signed for var­i­ous ap­pli­ca­tion re­quire­ments, un­der­scor­ing the com­pany’s grow­ing ex­per­tise in large-​scale hy­draulic so­lu­tions.

Expanding Expertise with a Development Partner for Hydraulic Solutions

The pro­duc­tion of larger-​dimension hy­draulic cylin­ders places in­creased de­mands on de­sign and man­u­fac­tur­ing. These in­clude, among other things, an adapted se­lec­tion of ma­te­ri­als, specif­i­cally de­signed seal­ing con­cepts, and ad­vanced test­ing pro­ce­dures.

Fur­ther­more, the de­sign and val­i­da­tion of these cylin­ders re­quire more com­plex sim­u­la­tion and cal­cu­la­tion processes. In pro­duc­tion as well, cus­tomized processes and en­hanced com­po­nent han­dling are nec­es­sary to en­sure the re­quired qual­ity and process re­li­a­bil­ity.

Positioning within the Product Portfolio

By ex­pand­ing its range of di­men­sions, WEBER-​HYDRAULIK is re­spond­ing to the in­creas­ing de­mands in var­i­ous fields of ap­pli­ca­tion, par­tic­u­larly in the area of heavy ma­chin­ery and high-​load sys­tems. Larger cylin­der di­am­e­ters en­able higher forces and thus ex­pand the range of ap­pli­ca­tions for hy­draulic so­lu­tions.

This de­vel­op­ment un­der­scores the com­pany’s com­mit­ment to serv­ing as a de­vel­op­ment and tech­nol­ogy part­ner ca­pa­ble of im­ple­ment­ing customer-​specific so­lu­tions even in chal­leng­ing size ranges. At the same time, in­ter­nal processes, man­u­fac­tur­ing ca­pac­i­ties, and test­ing meth­ods have been adapted ac­cord­ingly to en­sure qual­ity and op­er­a­tional re­li­a­bil­ity even with larger com­po­nents.

“The ex­pan­sion into larger cylin­der di­men­sions is a log­i­cal step in the fur­ther de­vel­op­ment of our man­u­fac­tur­ing ex­per­tise. This grad­ual ex­pan­sion has en­abled us to build up spe­cific know-​how in a tar­geted man­ner and, today, to pro­duce even so­phis­ti­cated cylin­ders in larger di­men­sions both cost-​effectively and to the re­quired qual­ity stan­dards.
