The GEMÜ BB02, B22, B42, and B52 ball valves have been certified as “suitable for use with oxygen” after thorough testing by the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM). This expands the product line, which previously included globe, diaphragm, and butterfly valves for oxygen.
The ball valve seals were rigorously tested according to DIN EN 1797 and ISO 21010, establishing clear safety conditions for their use. As a result, the GEMÜ BB02, B22, B42, and B52 ball valves are deemed suitable for gaseous oxygen applications, provided the operating temperature does not exceed 60°C and the maximum pressure is 30 bar. These valves use PTFE seals and fluorinated rubber (FKM) O-rings. GEMÜ customers can now order these valves in the special “O” version for oxygen use.
BAM emphasised the need for particular caution when handling oxygen. Because of this, all media wetted components in the ball valves for use with oxygen are carefully cleaned. Both the seal materials and the auxiliary materials such as lubricants and screw locking agents comply with the strict regulations.
With these ball valves, valve specialist GEMÜ can now offer another safe solution for handling oxygen. The result of the BAM examination confirms the quality and reliability, and demonstrates the company’s commitment to customer safety.
