In times of numerous challenging conditions, component manufacturers in key industries need innovative partners and technology suppliers more than ever to help them overcome these unique challenges. One such example is Citizen Machinery Europe GmbH: With its high-performance Cincom long-turning and Miyano short-turning technology, the turning machine manufacturer from Esslingen enables high-quality and profitable production, even in difficult times.

At the Turning and Chip Cutting Days Southwest (DST), Citizen Machinery will showcase its cutting-edge solutions and the possibilities of customized applications.

The Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region is one of the largest clusters of the machining industry in southwestern Germany and serves as a driver of innovation in turning and machining technology. “As an industry platform, the DST is the perfect forum—right on our doorstep—to present our turning technologies, automation solutions, and services to local professionals while fostering valuable knowledge exchange,” says Sascha Gersmann, Head of Marketing and Key Account Manager at Citizen Machinery Europe GmbH. “For this year’s DST, we have once again put together a first-class technology package that we will be presenting at the event.”

With the Power of HF: A Versatile Talent for Complex Components in a Single Operation

A true eye-catcher is the new Cincom long-turning machine L20-3M12B5 ATC HF. The multiple designations in its name—ATC and HF—always signal technological breakthroughs at Citizen, and rightly so. Introduced as a world premiere at AMB, the L20-3M12B5 ATC HF is designed to manufacture complex workpieces from difficult-to-machine materials—such as those used in medical technology—with the highest precision in a single operation.

The required power is delivered by twelve high-frequency spindles running at up to 60,000 rpm, designated as “HF” in the machine’s name. Additionally, the long-turning machine is equipped with the automatic tool change system (ATC). This means the integrated magazine, holding twelve tools, transforms the machine into a true multitasking powerhouse. Complex milling operations are performed efficiently in one go, while the sister tool function significantly boosts productivity. The 5-axis simultaneous milling technology enables micro-milling with exceptional precision and outstanding surface quality—all in a single pass!

Sascha Gersmann explains:
“Achieving the highest precision and surface quality has traditionally required separate processes on expensive 5-axis milling machines. Our L20-3M12B5 ATC HF can machine precious metals at extremely high cutting speeds. This means: complete machining on a single machine—setting new benchmarks for efficiency, cost reduction, and precision.”

A Versatility Champion for New, Innovative Machining Capabilities

Citizen presents another true “winner” for industrial manufacturing processes with the Cincom D25-1M8 long-turning machine. Equipped with up to 59 tools, two vertical holders at the guide bushing for maximum flexibility in main spindle machining, and a B-axis (Type VIII), the D25 is designed for fast and highly productive machining at the highest efficiency level.

Sascha Gersmann explains:
“The D25-1M8 particularly impresses with its high drive power and versatility in machining complex workpieces from bar stock—standard up to 25 mm in diameter, optionally up to 32 mm. The large number of tools available on both the main and sub-spindle keeps production costs low while offering a wide range of machining possibilities.”

Speed and Precision in the Versatile Miyano ANX-42SYY

In the Miyano short-turning segment, Citizen has brought the high-performance ANX-42SYY automatic lathe to Villingen-Schwenningen.

Featuring two Y-axes, identical component capabilities from two 12-station tool turrets, as well as main and sub-spindles, this short-turning machine delivers impressive performance. Combined with rapid-feed optimized linear technology, cutting-edge Citizen innovations such as LFV (Low Frequency Vibration) technology for chip control, and the user-friendly FANUC control system, including superimposed machining mode, manufacturers get a powerful technology bundle.

The machine concept offers maximum flexibility in the working area, allowing for a wide range of materials and geometries in complete machining—both front and back processing of complex components, even from difficult-to-machine materials.

Sascha Gersmann: “In combination with our automation solutions and many other design advantages, we open up new horizons for component manufacturers in efficient and profitable production—especially in challenging times. It is well worth exploring our…”
