Starrag has completed its five-axis Heckert X compact series with the launch of the Heckert X70, X80, and X90 in April 2025. These new machines complement the Heckert X50 and replace the HEC 630 X5 and HEC 800 X5 models, offering enhanced capabilities for machining larger workpieces.
The Heckert X70 features a pallet size of 630 × 800 mm, while the X80 and X90 offer 800 × 1,000 mm pallets. Loading capacities range from 1,000 kg (X70) to 2,000 kg (X90), making them ideal for five-axis heavy-duty machining of gearbox housings, cylinder heads, axles, valve and pump housings, planetary gear carriers, and machine components.
Despite their reduced footprint, the new Heckert machines retain full working areas, displacement circles, permissible workpiece weights, and heights. The X70 requires 18% less installation space than its predecessor, providing efficient machining even in small shopfloor areas.
Turning operations can be performed optionally with specially developed assemblies and software modules. Workpieces can be clamped vertically or during machining thanks to pallet changers, and all large tool magazines are compatible. The Heckert X90 supports turning diameters up to 1,400 mm, maintaining productivity and precision.
The new X-series machines feature low-vibration grey cast iron beds, thermally symmetrical columns, and trimmed guides for high basic mechanical accuracy. The rotary/tilt table is a Starrag in-house development, providing thermally stable, dynamic five-sided machining. Pallets are compatible with the H series, including older HEC 630 / 800 X5 models.
All X-series machines use the SINUMERIK ONE control system with updated hardware and fast sensors. Extended 13-channel clamping hydraulics and optimized interfaces enable easier automation with pallet storage systems and robotic cells, enhancing production efficiency.
