Every two years, for an entire weekend, the old factories of Langenthal – a small town in the canton of Bern in Switzerland – become the stage for exhibitions dedicated to contemporary design: it is the Designers Saturday, now at its 14th year.

The most prestigious international design furniture brands give these spaces a new twist with stunning installations, presenting to professionals and design aficionados their new products using a non-conventional language.

Exhibiting at “Designer’s Saturday” for the second time, Arper presents an installation based on a key concept of its philosophy: design as a living system. “The world functions as a network of living systems interacting among them. Similarly, in the design world objects play an active role in the environments where they are located, creating actual living systems”, says the Lievore Altherr Molina firm that designed Arper installation for the Girsberger Sitzmöbel sawmill spaces.

This evocative installation connects two dimensions: the ethereal space of imagination, where the object is conceived and represented, and the physical space dedicated to its production. The dimension of ideas materializes inside five large wooden boxes, placed in the heart of the site where objects take shape.

These five modules host five Arper iconic products: Saya, Nuur, Leaf, Catifa and Loop come to life in a playful composition of mirrors, sounds and moving images magnifying the possibilities to lay them out in space.

Saya, Nuur, Leaf, Catifa and Loop are the result of diversified design competences, but they share a single production know-how.
