BIG KAISER, a global leader in premium high-precision tooling systems and solutions for the metalworking industries, announces the Chip Fan, a tool offering a fast and safe method for removing chips and coolant without stopping production.

The Chip Fan blades are turned by a spindle on the existing machine. Due to the fan’s finely balanced design, it easily operates at high speeds of up to 12,000 rpm to provide powerful, high-volume air cleaning, without any of the dripping coolants and flying chip issues associated with conventional air hose blasts.

To ensure its long life and durability, the BIG KAISER Chip Fan is made from high-strength anodized aluminum. The chip fan comes with a pre-drilled hole, which allows coolant-through spindles to shoot coolant through the center of the fan to rinse off tables, fixtures, and workpieces. Next, the fan runs at high speed to remove any remaining chips or coolant, thus performing two cleaning operations in a single step. Ideally, chip fans are programmed into the machining cycle to minimize spindle downtime and maximize operator efficiency. Safety is also increased since all the chips and coolant are neatly contained inside the machining enclosure and kept off the shop floor.

“Keeping production equipment clean significantly improves reliability and quality, while also ensuring a quieter working environment,” says Giampaolo Roccatello, VP Sales at BIG KAISER. “Our new Chip Fan means chips and coolant can be quickly and easily removed without any interruption to production. This maximizes productivity and prevents unpleasant costly delays.”
