With the BIMERIC SP servo production system Bihler presents users with new perspectives in the progressive manufacture of assemblies.

The unique machine combination of SP 500 servo press and BIMERIC platform now offers significant advantages compared to sequential production processes. The stamping and forming parts produced in the SP 500 servo press (nominal force 500 kN) in progressive dies are further processed by the BIMERIC platform directly on the carrier strip and assembled to finished assemblies without any intermediate logistical operations. Processes such as contact welding, thread forming, adding screws, etc. can simply be outsourced from the press. The continuous component handling streamlines and simplifies the process chain, ensures a consistently high quality of manufactured components and saves logistics costs as well as downstream machinery. The BIMERIC SP can cover a large variety of assemblies in small and medium lot sizes efficiently with minimal set-up effort.

Flexible integration of progressive dies With the freely programmable stroke(15 mm–63 mm) and stroke position(0–60 mm) adjustment user can integrate existing or new follow-on tools in the SP 500 flexibly. For programming, only three values are required: Stroke length, feed and opening value at bottom dead center. These values are stored in the tool program and are set automatically when changing tools. The direct drive via a highly dynamic torque motor is ideally designed for flexible movements during the forming process. The SP 500 servo press is expandable to up to 76 movements. Motions can be implemented from all directions. Tool change systems allow for extremely short changeover times.

100% process reliability

Various sensor systems are integrated for maximum operating safety. A dynamic retraction depth control ensures a safe punching process. It regulates the position of bottom dead center during operation across the entire speed range(max. 400 1/min.). Continuous measurement of values such as temperature, force, path and vibration and their comparison with stored thresholds and limiting curves prevent damage occurring to press and tools.

Combination with SP 800

Besides the SP 500, the BIMERIC can also be coupled with the servo press SP 800. This press offers a nominal force of 800 kN with a speed range of up to 200 1/min. The SP 800 has a fixed stroke with 30 mm and a stroke position adjustment of-8 mm from BDC. Strip material up to a width of 160 mm can be processed on this servo press (SP 500: max. 250 mm).

High-end servo and control technology

The full range of functions of the Bihler VariControl VC1 machine and process control system ensures a comfortable and reliable operation. Changeover procedures are completed by the press of a button on the customized menu and are 100% reproducible. All machine functions as well as the number of axes and axis movements are configured without external programming devices directly on the controller. The bASSIST multimedia diagnostic and online help system supports your operators with videos, graphics, etc. (including customized items) and allows you to easily optimize processes.
