Enerpac presents its expanded product portfolio with the acquisition of Mirage Machines

Following the successful acquisition of Mirage Machines, Enerpac introduces a diverse range of heavy duty on-site machining tools to its product portfolio.

Decades of engineering know-how and innovation from the Mirage team has resulted in a wide range of portable machine tools, each capable of handling some of the world’s toughest on-site machining challenges.

Within the oil & gas and power generation industries the stakes are high. When machining on-site, engineers need complete confidence that the tools they use will help to get the job done faster, safer, and smarter.

Flange Facing Machines

The success of the Mirage flange facing range stems from their precision construction, the results they deliver, and how easy they are to set-up on-site. These robust machines produce continuous groove facing feeds to ASME standards on many flange types that include raised face, RTJ, lens ring, heat exchanger and compact flanges. There’s a choice of external and internal mounting options to mount onto the smallest flange sizes all the way up to 120” (3050mm).

Drilling and Tapping Machines

These powerful machines deliver high torque and provide easy operation through their heavy duty spindles and ISO standard tapers. The HT range of drilling machines can drill holes of up 5” diameter into incredibly tough materials, whilst the T30 and T725 tapping machines provide a simple and effective solution for operations such as flange stud tapping. On large scale decommissioning projects, the casing double pin drills provide an effective solution for creating lift holes into offshore casings.

Clamshell Cutters

Clamshell Cutters, (also known as split-frame cutters or pipe cutters), deliver an outstanding performance when cutting and bevelling large diameter pipes. Industries using these include construction, decommissioning, maintenance, fabrication and refurbishment.

The huge range of Mirage Clamshell Cutters is split into three types;

  • NB (Narrow Body) machines – ideal when space is at a premium.
  • MS (Mid-size) machines – weighing less than equivalent HD machines but provide greater rigidity than the NB type.
  • HD (Heavy Duty) machines – for large diameter heavy wall pipe cut and bevel applications.

Linear Milling Machines

These precise and robust milling machines are available in 2 and 3 axis configurations. Each includes the latest workshop tool technology in a portable format. The 2-axis line up consists of the MR range – built for rigidity, precision and general purpose in-situ milling applications and the LMR range, which use a lighter construction making them suitable for machining division slots in heat exchangers.

For 3-axis applications, the MRY range of milling machines make use of the tried and tested technology used in the MR range, but with the additional of an extra rail to achieve the third axis. For machining much larger areas gantry kits are available which are a modular system of components designed for use with the 2-axis milling rails.

Orbital Milling Machines

Orbital milling (OM) machines deliver fast material removal and high accuracy across large flange diameters. Applications for the OM range include; ship thruster flanges, bearing faces on cranes and draglines, and hydroelectric turbine repair.

Machines in the wind power (WP) orbital milling range deliver repeatable results and flatness of +/-0.15mm. These are used by companies manufacturing wind turbine rotor blades and towers. Innovations include a hydraulic clamping system and purpose-designed trolleys used to manoeuvre the machines into position.

Line Boring Machines

Line Boring Machines produce workshop quality tolerances on-site on projects such as turbine casings and couplings, ship stern tubes, and the refurbishment of construction vehicles. The modular design of these products allow different bar diameters, lengths, inserts, boring arms and facing heads to be selected – resulting in many different configurations for specific applications.

Hot Tapping

Hot tapping into a pipeline is a high pressure and potentially hazardous intervention. The Mirage range of hot tapping machines help to ensure these can be carried out safely and effectively. Features in many of the machines include; a helical gear drive located close to the cutting head – to ensure maximum efficiency and other features such as rotary pressure seals and fixed feeds.

The hot tapping range is split into four product types;

  • HTM: Manually operated tools for cutting smaller diameters up to 6”
  • MHT: A range of machines covering diameters from 3 to 60” operating up to 1480psi
  • CHT: A range of high pressure hot tapping machines operating up to 5000psi.
  • LSA: Line stop actuators used to temporarily isolate sections of pipeline.

Decommissioning Saws

For tubular severance projects, Enerpac is now able to offer a range of decommissioning saws suitable for either surface or subsea situations. Heavy duty portable band saws are an effective solution for topside cutting and diamond wire saws are perfect for cutting through dissimilar materials in subsea environments. The Mirage bolt saw provides an effective solution for cutting seized flange bolts across a wide range of flange diameters.

Mirage has gained a well-earned reputation within the on-site machining sector as a trusted and respected manufacturer. Enerpac introduces portable machining tools to the Enerpac portfolio.
