At Swiss Plastics Expo 2026 in Lucerne, ENGEL was honoured with the public award for its autonomous injection moulding cell, beating other nominees in the audience vote. This recognition came at the third annual Swiss Plastics Expo Award ceremony on January 22 2026.
ENGEL’s evolution from inject 4.0 to inject AI secured the audience’s support, making the intelligent production cell the standout solution of the event. The autonomous cell, based on the all‑electric e‑mac 80 machine and driven by digital assistance systems from the inject AI portfolio, autonomously manages key process parameters.
The autonomous cell minimises material use, cuts setup times, and eliminates scrap — even without deep operator expertise. This approach directly addresses challenges in quality demands, labour shortages, and process optimisation that many plastics processors face today.
Swiss Plastics Expo 2026 brought together over 3,800 industry professionals and around 200 exhibitors showcasing modern, resource‑efficient plastics processing solutions. Event symposia focused on technologies such as AI and sustainability, underlining ENGEL’s forward‑looking contributions in both areas.
Receiving the public award confirms ENGEL’s strategic emphasis on innovation and digitalisation in injection moulding. Christopher Vitz, Managing Director of ENGEL Schweiz AG, accepted the award, highlighting the company’s commitment to advancing autonomous production technologies.
