At the Hannover EMO 2023 in Hall 11 Stand E65, Okamoto proudly presented a new addition to the ACC-CAiQ Series. The ACC-CAiQ range with sizes from 600×400 up to 1000×600 had been extended with the addition of three new larger heavy-duty sizes, the PSG-126CAiQ with a size of 1200×600, the PSG-127CAiQ with a size of 1200×700, and the PSG-157CAiQ with a size of 1500×700.

The new larger models benefits from a robust heavy-duty main machine casting with a new moving column design that features a high-level column cross slide that further increased the rigidity and strength of the machine. Starting with the 1.2 m size, these larger machines are also delivered with a heavy-duty wheel-head together with a 15 kW spindle motor and a Ø510 mm grinding wheel. Despite having a longer table stroke, the cycle time is reduced thanks to a ball-screw table drive with a 40 m/min feed rate.

All CAiQ Series machines derive advantages from a sturdy main casting equipped with fully supported slide ways, ensuring exceptional stability and precision. The double V hand-scraped table slideway ensures optimal distribution of lubrication oil, guaranteeing a flat surface and smooth table movement.

The touch screen Fanuc control, which has garnered popularity among current CAiQ Series users, has undergone further enhancements to make setup in both production and tool room settings even quicker and more straightforward. The new Fanuc control boasts even faster response times, a larger high-definition touch screen with crisper graphics.

Common user-friendly grind patterns and wheel shapes can be easily configured directly on the touch screen view panel with the assistance of the iQ function. By inputting the grinding wheel mesh/grit size, the iQ function can automatically establish the optimal grinding conditions.

Previously, intricate tasks in precision grinding relied heavily on the expertise of skilled operators. The development of the Okamoto iQ touch screen control and its user-friendly software, combined with the inherent mechanical precision of the column-moving design, enables even unskilled operators to maximize efficiency and precision when operating the machine.

The two-tone color scheme and ergonomic design of the fully enclosed table cover, complete with an interlocked sliding door, permit the use of modern, high-volume, high-pressure coolant systems, thereby increasing productivity while maintaining a clean workshop environment.
