First Deployment at a Global Pharmaceutical Corporation: Turnkey NKL/NKS Valves in PFA-L and FDA-Compliant Design

Last week, 20 shut-off and control butterfly valves of type NKLP/F-L DN150 – featuring conductive PFA-L lining and fully FDA-compliant, grease-free assembly – were delivered for the first time to one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.

The valves were supplied as turnkey units: pre-assembled with actuator, limit switches, and solenoid valve, fully wired, tested, and documented – ready for direct integration into the plant.

Although these valves are already successfully used by other pharmaceutical manufacturers, this marks a new application for this customer: they are now being deployed in a highly automated production line designed specifically for handling aggressive media such as HCl, H₂SO₄, and solvents.

Long-Term Collaboration, New Milestone

The collaboration with this customer dates back to the early 2000s, initially involving smaller deliveries for pilot and laboratory-scale systems. For many years, project involvement was sporadic, and visibility within engineering was limited. A turning point came in 2022: dedicated project management was established, support was intensified, and the products were further developed – with a focus on FDA compliance, TA-Luft certification, dead-space-free designs, and antistatic versions for use in hazardous areas (Ex zones).

This technical evolution enabled integration into strategically important projects – including several new production areas, expansions of existing facilities, and a highly automated synthesis platform for future active pharmaceutical ingredients.

TTechnology That Delivers

Pharmaceutical API production places the highest demands on components. Our NKL/NKS butterfly valves meet these requirements through:

  • Conductive PFA-L lining ≥ 3.5 mm
  • FDA-compliant, grease-free assembly
  • Antistatic design for Ex zones
  • TA-Luft certification according to ISO 15848
  • High chemical resistance to aggressive media

With these features, the valves are ideal for hygiene-critical processes and aggressive media – complementing the customer’s existing valve portfolio with a low-maintenance solution for fluid handling in demanding chemical processes.

A Signal of Confidence

The initial integration of our valves into this customer’s production line demonstrates: our solutions not only meet the highest technical and regulatory standards – they are also ready for deployment in the most demanding production environments in the industry.

This delivery exemplifies a partnership built on trust, technical expertise, and deep process understanding – and underscores our role as a reliable technology partner in the pharmaceutical industry.
