HELP AFTER THE FLASH FLOOD: SCREEN MACHINE IN OPERATION TO HELP REBUILD CAMPING SITE

Christoph Zerwas keeps his chin up: The operator of a camping site in Kreuzberg on the Ahr had to watch how the flooding in mid-July completely destroyed his premises, where usually many people spend their holidays. But he was sure that this place had to be restored, therefore he looked for volunteers and machines that could advance the reconstruction.

Quick Help in the Flood Area

Zerwas did not have to wait long for active support. Tom Straßburger, contractor from Kaarst, and employees of the company Patrick Meurer from Erkelenz immediately offered their help to the campsite operator when they learned of his fate. In search of machines that could separate the remaining soil from the accumulated rubble and waste, the volunteers turned to Florian Zander, who works as the area sales manager for North Rhine-Westphalia at Doppstadt. Within a couple of days he organized a SM 620 screen and set off with great vigor for Kreuzberg on the Ahr. Our screening machine helped the numerous volunteers for one week to remove waste and stones from the soil thus making a significant contribution to the camping site reconstruction. The clean soil will be used as a foundation for the reconstruction of the camping site.

Further Support Required

But the work is far from being finished – the destruction was too extensive. In order to continue supporting Christoph Zerwas in the reconstruction, an online donation campaign was initiated. We hope that Mr. Zerwas and all the other flood victims will soon be able to get back to normal life. We keep our fingers crossed that the camping site can be reopened soon!
