Kathrein’s new version of the IoT software CrossTalk: more transparency in production and logistics

With version 3.4, Kathrein Solutions is again launching an important update of the IoT suite CrossTalk on the market. The software, which is widely used in RFID, AutoID and RTLS environments, has been enhanced with numerous new and improved functions. The most important new features are described below. In addition, there are more than 100 new functions and improvements for the application and stability of the software.

The IoT CrossTalk suite already manages thousands of AutoID systems in production operation. The robust and modular software integrates all common RFID devices and RTLS systems. Standardized IT interfaces such as the web services SOAP/REST, MQTT, EPCIS or OPC/UA can be used “out of the box”.

New user interface

The web user interface has now been further separated from the core of the software, and has received a new modern design. This further simplifies the use of the system for the user and in the future customer-specific adaptations to the interface will be possible even more quickly.

License management

The new version simplifies license management. There are now only read point-specific licenses for the base and full platform. Newly acquired reading points are simply added. All license purchases are clearly displayed in a new list. If the software is installed without productive licenses, a 90-day evaluation version is automatically available.

Automated Documentation

Many customers and partners have been waiting for this feature. With the help of the new “System Documentation App”, the entire installation of the software with all apps, configurations, parameters and settings can be saved to a PDF at the touch of a button. This helps to document the status of a productive installation seamlessly and very simply.

ITS app

With the ITS app, an important integration module is now available for our ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) market segment, which includes toll and parking solutions, for example. This greatly simplifies the combination of RFID and intelligent camera solutions for vehicle identification. We also support the highly secure UCODE DNA technology, which prevents the counterfeiting of RFID transponders and can be read at speeds of up to 220 km/h. This is a key advantage of the ITS application.

Android support for CrossTalk Mobile

Also in the market for industrial mobile devices, combined with barcode and RFID scanners, the Android operating system is finding its way into the market faster and faster. Some of the existing Windows Mobile-based devices are already being discontinued. We ported our CrossTalk mobile technology “Mobile Application Framework” to Android in good time. All already implemented applications also run in the Android version. Since most of the new devices come onto the market with new hardware (drivers) and a different screen resolution, minor adjustments to the applications are necessary.
