LIGNA 2017: Vollmer presents Tool sharpening for the Woodworking Industry

In line with their motto “Dialogue on Precision”, the sharpening specialist VOLLMER will present their range of products and services at this year’s Ligna woodworking trade fair. At stand B60 in Hall 27, the Swabian business will present off their grinding and eroding machines for the wood processing industry, designed to sharpen circular, band and gang saws as well as rotary tools. From 22nd to 26th May 2017, visitors to the trade fair will be able to get a closer look at the VOLLMER CC 355 production system for circular saws. In addition, the modified QXD 250 eroding machine for PCD-tipped rotary tools and the VGrind 360 grinding machine for carbide tools will be on display in Hanover. These machines are used by furniture makers, wood material manufacturers and sharpening services.

Whether for circular, band and gang saws or rotary tools – at stand B60 in Hall 27 at the 2017 Ligna woodworking trade fair, VOLLMER is presenting efficient complete solutions for machining both saws and tools for the woodworking industry. The new CC 355 production system is suitable for manufacturers of carbide-tipped circular saws for use in wood cutting. The CC 355 enables large numbers of circular saw blades to be fully sharpened – including all tooth faces, tooth tops and side angles – in a single working cycle. Four grip arms automatically carry the saw blades, which can range from 150 to 355 millimetres in diameter, from the loading system to the three machining stations. The CP 650 sharpening machine will also be on show in Hanover from 22nd to 26th May 2017. It is suitable for sharpening tooth faces and tooth tops on carbide-tipped circular saw blades between 80 and 650 millimetres in diameter. What’s more, VOLLMER will be available to offer information about other machines which can be used for sharpening services or in filing rooms at sawmills – simply pay them a visit at their Ligna stand.

Sharpening carbide-tipped tools
The VGrind 360 grinding machine are made for machining carbide tools such as drills and milling cutters, which are used in timber construction and furniture building. Thanks to two vertically positioned spindles, the VGrind 360 machines and finishes rotary tools in large quantities quickly and precisely. Its enhanced travel distances enable carbide-tipped steel bodies up to a diameter of 200 millimetres to be machined, depending on their geometry. With the VGrind 360, VOLLMER provides tool manufacturers around the world with solutions for rotary workpieces of varying geometries.

Diamond-tipped tools – those that feature polycrystalline diamond (PCD) – are vitally important in the production of wood and composite materials. VOLLMER provides PCD tool manufacturers with a range of eroding machines. The QXD 250 disc erosion machine will be on show in Hanover. Thanks to its modified generator and expanded program functionalities, it enables more efficient, quicker, more precise machining. With the HC 5 pallet circulation magazine, the QXD 250 can be expanded by up to 28 workpiece positions.
