Proven for over 10 years in harsh environments and cramped spaces: MAGRES are robust encoders with purely magnetic single and multi-turn scanning. Now Baumer introduces the new, completely revised MAGRES encoder generation in the 58 mm dimension.

The improved mechanism now permits a version with IP 67 protection rating and an extended operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C. The robust galvanized steel housing not only protects the encoder from environmental influences, but ensures excellent magnetic shielding. The MAGRES devices are therefore ideally suited for use in harsh conditions.

The magnetic scanning operates without contact or wear. This makes the encoders extremely insensitive to soiling, dust and temperature swings. Innovative multi-turn acquisition with semiconductor sensors increases robustness and reliability. Use of the latest components assures years of availability. A further significant advantage is high shock and vibration resistance up to 500 g and 30 g, respectively.

The solid and hollow shaft encoders in the new generation are electrically and mechanically compatible with prior versions and are therefore suitable for retrofit applications. These compact encoders offer an integrated SSI or CANopen interface and work with 12 bit single-turn resolution or 4096 steps per revolution and up to 18 bit multi-turn resolution or 262.144 revolutions. The variants offer numerous additional field bus and Ethernet interfaces with flexible bus covers.
