ProMinent GmbH, a leading provider of water treatment solutions and market leader in metering technology, has once again been honored in the renowned TOP 100 innovation competition. This is the third year in a row that ProMinent has received the coveted TOP 100 seal, which is awarded to especially innovative mid-sized companies. The official award ceremony will be held on June 27 in Mainz, where science journalist and competition mentor Ranga Yogeshwar will personally congratulate the company on its achievement.

ProMinent’s drive for innovation and technological advancement has been a defining trait since the introduction of the world’s first electronic solenoid metering pump in 1968. “Innovation and dedication are part of our DNA—we continuously strive to develop market-leading solutions,” says Andreas Zühlcke, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing. “Our latest development, the beta/ X metering pump, reflects this mindset. It combines efficiency, precision, and cutting-edge technology in a forward-looking design that is intuitive to operate, install, commission, and maintain.”

The TOP 100 award is based on a rigorous scientific selection process led by innovation researcher Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke. On behalf of compamedia, the competition’s organizer, Prof. Dr. Franke and his team analyzed the innovative strength of the participants using over 100 test criteria across five categories: innovation-promoting top management, innovation climate, innovative processes and organization, external orientation/open innovation, and innovation success. The core of the analysis focuses on whether innovations result from structured innovation management or arise by chance.

“Innovation means acting instead of reacting,” says Prof. Dr. Franke. “It means actively shaping the future instead of hoping that nothing will change.”

The TOP 100 seal is awarded in three size categories to ensure equal opportunities for all participants: up to 50, 51 to 200, and more than 200 employees. In the current round, which marks the 32nd year of the TOP 100 competition, 364 SMEs applied, and 262 were successful, holding the TOP 100 seal since February 1, 2025. A maximum of 100 companies can be awarded per size category.

On June 27, all top innovators of 2025 will gather at the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz for the award ceremony as part of the German SME Summit. Ranga Yogeshwar will be present to personally congratulate the winners on their TOP 100 success.
