TAKUMI, a HURCO brand, will be exhibiting a high-precision 5-axis machining centre for the European market at EMO 2023: the “U400”. The compact gantry machine is designed for the efficient production of components with high surface quality in tool and mould making. With a weight of 9 t, the U400 is characterised by low-vibration machining properties and thermal stability – even with long running times. This has a direct effect on the precision of the workpiece. At the same time, the machine tuning in conjunction with the absolute direct measuring systems is optimised for accuracy and surface quality.

Eliminating operator errors

With a rotary table of 398 mm diameter and 250 kg maximum table load, the U400 is tailored to small to medium-sized workpieces. Like all TAKUMI machines, the U400 is equipped with a Heidenhain control system, which allows dialogue, parallel and free contour programming as well as ISO-NC programming. With the DCM anti-collision control, tool or machine damage as a result of operator error is largely eliminated. The large corner loading opening allows loading from above by crane, an integrated oil separator and an ergonomic chip conveyor keep the workplace clean.

TAKUMI combines the demands of Japanese craftsmanship, which strives for perfection, with those of precision-oriented German mechanical engineering. The result is a machine series for tool and mould making that combines high precision, stability and workpiece quality down to the smallest detail. The inherently rigid machining centres with stable machine beds made of Meehanite cast iron guarantee smooth-running processes and convince with high-quality surface finishing. They are manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
