With the TC130 Supreme tap, Walter is launching a premium tool for blind-hole machining which combines many different benefits: Straight grooves produce short chips, resulting in high process reliability. In turn, the special geometry of the taps means that the high surface quality of the threads – and therefore the usability of the tools – is maintained for a long time. To this end, the last thread in the chamfer section of the tools is designed to “finish” the thread. This results in an excellent thread surface. The high thread quality is accompanied by improved tool life. This is because the tools can continue to be used when other tools would need to be replaced because of the decreasing thread quality.

Walter is offering the TC130 Supreme for thread depths up to 3.5 × DN with a wide product range also for large thread sizes: M4–M42 (metric), M10×1–M33×2 (metric fine) and UNC ¼–UNC 1. Alongside the impressive geometry, the TiN coating (WY80AA) and, in addition, the HiPIMS coating (WY80EH) improve the wear resistance and thread quality. The HSS-E taps featuring axial internal coolant have a tolerance of 6HX. Since they can be used for ISO materials P and K, Walter explains that users benefit in particular from the competitive advantage offered by the innovative new patent-pending geometry. Preferred application areas include interference contours, deep threads, large batch sizes and series production.
