Gentec-EO, a global leader in laser beam measurement instruments, is proud to announce the launch of the 2025 Laser Lab Awards, an international initiative created to support optics laboratories in academic institutions.

Running from May 1 to June 30, 2025, this year’s edition invites university and college instructors to apply for a chance to receive one of 12 laser beam measurement instruments, free of charge. The goal: help students learn with the same high-performance tools used across the photonics industry.

“Access to reliable, industry-grade equipment is key to preparing the next generation of optical scientists
and engineers,” said Charles Dumas, VP of Sales and Marketing at Gentec-EO. “The Laser Lab Awards is
our way of contributing directly to that mission.”

Five prizes to choose from

Selected applicants will receive one product of their choice among the following laser beam
measurement tools:

  1. UP19K-30H-H5-INT-D0 — A thermopile-based laser power detector (up to 30 W), with USB
    connection and PC software.
  2. QE25LP-H-MB-INT-D0 — A pyroelectric-based energy detector (up to 3.8 J), also in the all-in-one
    INTEGRA format.
  3. PRONTO-SI — A user-friendly photodiode-based handheld power meter (0.3 nW to 800 mW)
    with internal data logging.
  4. UP19K-15S-H5-BLU-D0 — A wireless thermal detector (up to 15 W), featuring a Bluetooth
    interface for a clutter-free lab.
  5. PRONTO-250-EZ — A rugged, portable detector (1 W to 250 W) with USB connectivity and three
    measurement modes.

Who can apply

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Work at an academic institution (university or college).
  • Be in a role that involves teaching optics through laboratory experiments or demonstrations.
  • Submit a completed application form by June 30, 2025.

How winners are selected

A total of 12 winners will be chosen by the Gentec-EO Laser Lab Awards team. Selection is based on:
