Sill Optics presents a new color-corrected scan lens for ultrashort pulsed lasers with pulse dura-tions of down to 190 fs. A special optical design for color-correction in the range from 345.2 nm to 346.8 nm enables a very compact design of S4LFT4015-075-FS.
Due to Heisenberg‘s uncertainty principle, extre-mely short pulse lasers do not emit a single wave-length but a spectrum of a few nanometers. For this reason, lenses for femtosecond lasers usually have to be color-corrected so that the spot stays circular (and not elliptical) at the corners of the scan field. This color correction proves to be very difficult, especially in the high power range, be-cause only a few glasses can be classified as USP-usable.
For S4LFT4015-075-FS, a new type of color cor-rection technique was used, whereby only fused silica is required. As a result, volume, weight and overall length can be reduced compared to con-ventionally color-corrected lenses, and an increa-sed working distance is possible.
