DOGA PET Elevates PET Recycling Standards with TOMRA Technology

DOGA PET, a subsidiary of Doğa Holding, has revolutionized PET recycling in Turkey by implementing TOMRA Recycling’s state-of-the-art sensor-based sorting systems. These advanced technologies enable the production of high-quality PET flakes and recycled PET (rPET) granules suitable for demanding applications in the food and textile industries.

Optimizing Production Capacity and Quality

Located in northwestern Turkey, DOGA PET’s facility processes over 4,200 tons of post-consumer PET bottles monthly. The plant produces approximately 1,000 tons of premium PET flakes and 2,000 tons of rPET granules each month. To achieve this, the facility utilizes TOMRA’s comprehensive range of sorting machines, including four AUTOSORT™ units, two INNOSORT™ FLAKE systems, and two AUTOSORT™ FLAKE units. This combination ensures precise sorting and purification at every stage of the recycling process.

Achieving Exceptional Purity Levels

DOGA PET has set new benchmarks in purity levels for recycled PET materials. The facility has achieved a polymer purity of 99.998% and a color purity of over 99% for transparent PET, with color variations reduced to below 0.5%. These high purity levels are crucial for producing food-grade rPET granules and high-quality textile fibers.

Innovative Separation of Light Blue PET

In a significant advancement, DOGA PET has become the first facility in Turkey to successfully separate light blue PET material from clear PET during the recycling process. This innovation allows the company to recover valuable light blue PET for reuse, minimizing material loss and maximizing resource efficiency.

Integration of Advanced Waste Analysis

To ensure compliance with stringent food-grade standards, DOGA PET has invested in a state-of-the-art waste analyzer powered by PolyPerception. This system uses real-time camera-based analysis to monitor and classify materials, ensuring that less than 5% of the input material for the washing process consists of non-food-grade PET. This investment enhances material recovery and provides transparency to customers and certification bodies.

Commitment to Quality in Textile Applications

DOGA PET’s commitment to quality extends to the textile industry, where the company supplies high-purity rPET granules for filament-grade textiles. The durability, aesthetics, and functionality of the final fiber products depend heavily on the proper management of the PET recycling process. Accurate sorting is critical for increasing rPET granule purity, and DOGA PET’s use of TOMRA’s advanced sorting systems ensures efficient and fast recycling processes.
