BioConstruct – ready for the island

BioContruct – begins to work on a 5.1 MW biogas plant in England

After a long preparation period, BioConstruct GmbH, together with its British cooperation partner Earthly Energy, succeeded in signing the first contract for a BioConstruct plant in England in 2012. Construction work on the biogas plant will begin in spring 2013 near the town of Middlesbrough. “This contract represents a milestone in our history and in expanding our international business,” says Managing Partner Henrik Borgmeyer.

The plant, based on the fermentation of waste, will be built in the industrial area near the River Tees and has excellent logistic transport connections. The generated electricity will be fed only into the National Grid and hard work is also being done on the potential of energy recovery. “The infrastructure of the location here in Teesside impressed us from the beginning, and we have already identified many interested parties for the development of an energy recovery concept. Local farmers are already waiting with anticipation for the nutritious digestate, as it is a cost effective alternative to mineral fertilizers,” says Earthly Energy’s CEO Robert Starling regarding the long-awaited success of the project development work of his team.
