Change and stability have long been integral to Plant Construction at EnviTec Biogas, Germany’s largest biogas producer, with shifts not only in construction systems but also in top management. Since early 2024, EnviTec, based in Saerbeck and Lohne, Germany, has entrusted Jakob Falkenstein, Maurice Markerink, and CTO Jürgen Tenbrink with this pivotal role. Following a transition, this trio now leads EnviTec Plant Construction – EnviTec Anlagenbau GmbH & Co. KG – effective April 1, 2024.

“We aim to leverage this management structure to build on past achievements while tackling new market challenges and opportunities with our technical prowess and entrepreneurial vision,” states Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of EnviTec Biogas AG. CFO Jörg Fischer and Lars von Lehmden, former heads of Plant Construction alongside Jürgen Tenbrink, will continue their association with the segment through the newly established Advisory Board. Lars von Lehmden, previously overseeing national and international biogas sales and related processes, will also manage business development for the USA and international project development for own-operation projects in this segment.

Continuing to develop partnerships

“The biogas market’s rapid growth and increasing project volumes are evident,” remarks Jürgen Tenbrink, EnviTec’s CTO and Plant Construction Managing Director, appointed as the company’s Technical Director in 2002, with expanded responsibilities since 2010. His leadership encompasses research and development, quality assurance, purchasing, project execution, and site management at Saerbeck. “Projects are becoming more intricate, with growing synergy effects in ancillary technologies such as CO2 and methane liquefaction,” he notes, citing recent developments like EnviTec’s proprietary control system and remote dialing systems to enhance cybersecurity.

His colleague, Maurice Markerink, emphasizes the role of biogas in curbing greenhouse gas emissions, especially in agriculture, since joining EnviTec in 2008. Initially focusing on international project development and managing biogas plants, he later spearheaded business development for EnviTec Anlagenbau. Now, as part of the new Plant Construction management team, Markerink oversees national and international sales and new business development.

Jakob Falkenstein, who joined EnviTec a year ago, brings expertise in project and construction management, particularly in industrial and waste-to-energy plant construction. With increasing international project inquiries, Falkenstein focuses on day-to-day operations, including planning, construction, quality assurance, and accounting.

As the market leader, EnviTec aims to forge strong ties with biogas stakeholders worldwide, aiming to increase biomethane plant numbers and achieve emission reduction goals. The management trio eyes new partnerships and markets like Indonesia, Poland, Spain, and Sweden, while also nurturing existing markets such as the Baltic states, Czech Republic, Italy, and Slovakia, leveraging EnviThan technology for biomethane conversion projects.
