EnviTec Biogas:own laboratory in France

30 square metres for precise analyses – this is what the laboratory of EnviTec Biogas in France, which has just gone into (trial) operation, offers. “Our new service enables us to serve the growing French market and our customers even faster,” says Clemens Willenborg, Head of the Biological Service Department at EnviTec Service GmbH.

The investment in our own laboratory at the French branch location near Compiègne offers customers an efficient and, above all, time-saving analysis: within a few hours, the five-strong biologist and laboratory team on site already have the first results of a sample. “This is important, because every hour of downtime of a plant means a loss of revenue for our customers,” Willenborg continues. “Our entire after-service management is therefore geared towards providing our plant operators with the best possible support and reducing downtimes to a minimum,” explain Eric Villeminot, commercial manager and Serge Druard, technical manager of the EnviTec branch in France.

The strategic idea for an own laboratory in France was born last year and decided within the team. Until now, the French colleagues had sent the samples to EnviTec’s own laboratory in Italy or Germany. “With our current growth of 35 new plants of biogas plants with gas treatment within only two years, we want to serve the growth market France even faster and more efficiently with the new on-site laboratory,” says Christian Fürste, Division Manager Service International.

“With the help of the new laboratory, the regular examination of the fermenter contents shows our experts promptly to what extent everything is in order in the fermenter or whether something is developing for the better or worse. This enables us to provide information about the status of the fermenter biology and its development at a very early stage and to pass on recommendations for action to our customers with sound expertise,” Willenborg continues. In the new laboratory in France, EnviTec will carry out comprehensive analyses from September onwards after successful test operations.

“For many of our operators, biogas and its upgrading to biomethane is new territory,” Willenborg says. This is why the support provided by the biological and technical service is of paramount importance, especially in the commissioning phase and the first months after start-up. “The support of biogas plants is a constant mix of scientific laboratory analyses, but also a trusting cooperation between service partner and operator, because with a high daily turnover, there is naturally also a higher potential for loss when the plant is at a standstill,” Willenborg tells us, adding that the faster evaluation of samples in our new laboratory now helps here in order to be able to readjust better.
