Wind Power’s First Rugged and Reliable Fiber Optic Encoder

scanconScancon introduces its SCH94FO encoder, the industry’s first rugged and reliable fiber optic encoder. The SCH94FO was specifically designed for use with wind turbine generators and offers either dual digital/fiber optic output or a single fiber optic output.

The SCH94FO encoder provides a safe method for signal transmission from the nacelle to the tower base. Utilizing both fiber optic cable and a built-in Transistent Suppression Module (TSM), the encoder protects against signal disruption by electrical disturbances often encountered during wind turbine operation.

The encoder offers either Red Light or Infrared Light transmission. Although the Red Light option has a lower transmission distance (250 meters), it allows the customer to actually see if the fiber is transmitting when power is applied. The Infrared Light option allows for a much longer transmission distance (~ 2,000 meters).

The SCH94FO encoder is ideal for those applications requiring safe signal transmission over long distances.
