DENSO Robotics Releases a New Robot to the Market for the ISO 3 Clean Room Class

The VS-Series models are especially designed for the sterile working conditions found in the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, solar, and food industries
DENSO Robotics, worldwide leader in the production of small robots, has extended the operational environment in which their new VS-Series robots can function. The VS 050, 060, 068 and 087 models now fulfill the stringent ISO 3 clean room class requirements, making them suitable for absolutely contamination free environments. The new robots compliment the recently release models which were suitable for only the ISO 5 clean room class. The new robots are especially designed for use in the pharmaceutical and medical industry. But they are also suitable for the conductor, electronic, and food industries. They are optimized to work in any conditions that require the highest sterility available. DENSO Robotics is leading the way in these sectors.

Denso VS-series clean room robots

The six-axis robots of the VS-Series, available with speeds up to 11,000 mm/s, are the fastest and most compact robots in their class. The new models, with their applicability in the ISO 3 clean room class, are also equipped with special sealed joints. Furthermore, the VS-Series robots allow to make all connections on the bottom of the robot. This is a great advantage, especially when the workspace is limited and absolute hygiene is required.

The new VS-Series robots are very precise (repeatability of ± 0.02mm and ± 0.03mm), and can reach a cycle time of up to 0.33 seconds (cycle time with one kilograms load: time measuring how long it takes the robot to travel 25 mm x 300 mm x 25 mm and return). The maximum load for the robots is up to seven kilograms, and having brakes on all axes allow the robot to be assembled on the floor, ceiling and/or wall. In 2011, the robots were awarded the iF Product Design Award. Generally, the robot possesses fully integrated cabling (optional) up to the sixth axis, providing an opportunity for connection with Ethernet devices at the sixth axis, such as cameras. Altogether 17 lines allow connecting the robots with camera lights and servo grippers, for instance.
