AEON integrates high-performance locomotion, sensor fusion, and AI-driven spatial intelligence to address labor shortages and support a wide range of industrial applications. Initial pilots with Schaeffler and Pilatus will explore AEON’s capabilities across diverse environments.

Launched at Hexagon LIVE Global in Stockholm, Sweden, AEON is the first product from Hexagon’s newly formed Robotics division. Purpose-built for real-world challenges, AEON combines Hexagon’s precision sensors with advanced mobility, mission control, and environmental awareness. Its applications span manipulation, asset inspection, digital reality capture, and operator assistance—supporting industries including automotive, aerospace, transportation, manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics.

“For more than a decade, Hexagon has been advancing robotics innovation across our divisions,” said Ola Rollén, Chairman of the Board, Hexagon. “AEON is a milestone in humanoid robotics—an industrially tailored system that enhances agility, safety, and sustainability while helping customers adapt to structural demographic shifts.”

Key Capabilities of AEON

  • Agility: Combines dexterity and precise locomotion with Hexagon’s proprietary measurement technology.
  • Awareness: Uses multimodal sensor data and spatial reasoning to interpret environments and optimize tasks.
  • Versatility: Handles a wide range of functions, from object manipulation and component inspection to digital twin creation and teleoperation.
  • Continuous Operation: Features a battery-swapping mechanism that eliminates downtime for charging.

Arnaud Robert, President of Hexagon’s Robotics division, added:

“With AEON, we’re taking physical AI to the factory floor—delivering real solutions for industry. We’re working closely with partners and, over the next six months, will deploy AEON in live production environments before scaling commercially.”

Industry Collaborations

  • Pilatus will test AEON in its factories to enhance automation and competitiveness in Swiss manufacturing.
  • Schaeffler will integrate AEON into production workflows, building on its long-standing leadership in motion technologies.

Hexagon has also partnered with NVIDIA, Microsoft, and maxon to bring AEON to market. The robot is powered by NVIDIA’s accelerated computing, Omniverse, and Jetson platforms; trained and scaled on Microsoft Azure; and driven by maxon’s next-generation actuators for efficient locomotion.
