Advantech, a leading provider of industrial Flash storage solutions, and Phoenix Technologies, a leading BIOS firmware expert, are collaborating on the introduction of a UEFI-based (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) SSD security software tool — SQErase. Designed to pioneer the future of data security, SQErase can delete critical data through UEFI without OS compatibility limitations. This produces a full-scale storage security solution for rugged industrial applications. Advantech SQFlash provides highly reliable storage with enhanced security for military, finance, healthcare, transportation, and government applications.

UEFI-Based Data Protection

SQFlash combines consistent UEFI standards and seamless integration with Phoenix’s UEFI technology to provide an extra layer of security. Besides ATA secure erase, SQErase supports prominent military erase standards, including US Navy & Air Force, German VSITR, RCMP TSSIT OPS-II, and Single Pass Zeros. SQErase provides an intuitive user interface and offers an array of erase algorithms ensuring that deleted files are unrecoverable.

Leveraging Phoenix UEFI security expertise, SQFlash is setting new standards in data protection. This joint effort aims to deliver reliable security solutions worldwide. Both Advantech and Phoenix are committed to delivering superior security solutions that meet industry standards and exceed customer expectations. The collaboration represents a significant step forward for data protection in diverse industrial applications.

A Comprehensive Selection of SSD Security Capabilities

SSD security remains the focus of industrial applications. To this end, SQFlash enhances data protection using 3 layers. First, SQFlash SSDs are self-encrypted drives. By adding the latest TCG-OPAL 2.0 and AES-256 compliance, users can protect SSD data from unauthorized access. Advantech’s FIPS 140-2 certified SQFlash solutions also feature excellent multi-user authentication. This helps safeguard sensitive end-user data. Second, all SQFlash comes bundled with the DeviceOn/SQ Manager software utility. This enables SSD remote monitoring and management at any time from any location. In addition, the Advantech UUID-based Flash Lock helps the authentication of an SSD to certain mainboards or equipment. In application layers, SQFlash enables security functions like write protection, crypto erase, and military erase through hardware design and software tools. The seamless integration of SQFlash with Phoenix’s UEFI technology will provide an extra layer of security, taking advantage of consistent UEFI standards.
