The company NUTECH in Neumünster for many years has been working as toll manufacturer, job-shop factory and supplier of special laser inside coating optics. In the past, the applied systems were special systems specifically designed for one application only. Due to the significant increase of inquiries from the fields of offshore technology, gas and oil production as well as repair work in the shipbuilding sector, NUTECH invested in a robot based, flexible system from REIS ROBOTICS which can perform much more tasks than the special machines before. The new system is mainly used for laser coating of large pipes and shafts as well as for interior coating of pipes.

Besides this, due to the flexible design of the system nearly all other 3D-laser applications can be executed efficiently. This ranges from small, very complex components up to very long, heavy and bulky components.

To meet all requirements, REIS ROBOTICS configured the processing cell together with NUTECH. An articulated arm robot RV60-60 on a floor traversing unit is used. For processing the pipes inside, it must be possible to turn the components. For this purpose NUTECH uses a rotary module with 5 tons load capacity and a manually adjustable end support. Components with a length of up to 6 m can be clamped with this. For processing of even bigger and heavier components, it is possible to support the component weight via adjustable, mobile roller blocks. Smaller components are accommodated on a rotary/tilting module. This can be flexibly fixed at two different positions.

The total system is controlled via a big central operating panel. All important system statuses and the view into the laser-safe safety housing are visualized there. As laser source REIS ROBOTICS uses a fiber laser with 8kW laser power. For laser inside coating the system applies the optics developed and industrially tested by NUTECH.

With this robot system from REIS ROBOTICS, NUTECH now is much more flexible and thus optimally prepared for future laser coating and laser hardening applications.
