The challenge for designers and installers of low-voltage switchgears and  control units is how to meet the rigorous approval requirements for user protection and system safety under normal operating conditions, for example in the case of a short circuit or overvoltage, and also those for protection against misuse in general. The method for providing proof of this compliance based on type testing is defined in EN 61439-2 and ASTA certification and takes into account the fact that personnel with varying levels of skill may have access to the device. There is now a tested alternative in the form of the Vamocon preassembled switchgear cabinet system from SEDOTEC built around the new type-tested WS-V low-voltage circuit breakers from Mitsubishi Electric, offering ASTA certification and conformance to EN 61439-2 as standard.

Mitsubishi Electric has responded to the increased demands from customers and system requirements by developing the new WS-V series of moulded-case circuit-breakers. The new low-voltage switchgears are characterised by their particularly high breaking capacity. They are available in three sizes as 3- and 4-pole models as well as in variants for fixed or plug-in installation. The switchgears come with international approval for industrial and marine applications and also offer optional functions such as improved overload monitoring, network connectivity and energy consumption monitoring. The moulded-case models from the WS-V series are among the smallest circuit-breakers available on the market. Intelligent in-house breaking technologies guarantee a high level of reliability and improved short-circuit protection along with faster circuit-breaking speed. The WS-V circuit breakers comply with national and international standards such as VDE, EN and IEC and are used in the Vamocon switchgear cabinet system, for example.

German cabinet manufacturer SEDOTEC developed the Vamocon range of modular switch cabinets for low-voltage switchgears, enabling quick planning, flexible installation and reliable energy distribution for industrial plants and building applications. With the Vamocon system, the whole plant will meet the most stringent safety standards, eliminating the need to provide further proof of conformity.

Vamocon systems with the new WS-V switchgears from Mitsubishi Electric have successfully passed tests for low-voltage switchgears, including the design test in accordance with EN 61439-2. All the system components, including the switch cabinet, switchgears and safety devices, have been tested and comply with the prescribed safety standards.

The Vamocon system supports all the variants of the different standing versions from 1 to 4b, from the freestanding single cabinet to side-by-side and corner units, or back-to-back arrays with a shared main busbar system. Two different heights and a variety of other options allow customer-specific solutions to be developed that match the application requirements precisely.
