Softstarters offer advantages when controlling motors. In addition to smooth and wear-free starting, soft starters are extremely energy-efficient, especially for applications with fixed speeds. Integrated relay contacts, which bridge the power semiconductors after start-up, minimize power dissipation and enable a very compact design. This is also the case with the two-phase controlled soft starter GF 9229 of the COMBISTART series with integrated reliable and gentle braking function for three-phase asynchronous motors up to efficiency level IE3.

In addition to the power-saving and self-optimizing start-up, the GF 9229 soft starter also focuses on safety when the controlled motors run out. In accordance with the requirements of Category 2, PL c from EN 13849-1 as well as SIL 1 according to DIN EN 61508, the following functions are available

  • Prevention of unexpected failure-induced start-up
  • Monitored controlled shutdown
  • Control of the safety gate interlocking device
  • motor standstill monitoring

realized. This makes the device an ideal and comparatively cost-effective component for processing machines such as saws, milling machines, planes for wood or also screening machines, vibrators, centrifuges and fans. The compact design allows space-saving integration into the control cabinet.

With the LCD control panel for convenient adaptation of the parameters to the application, the GF 9229 soft starter is also equipped with serial CAN interfaces with CANopen protocol, with the aid of which data can be exchanged with the higher-level controller and optimum starting behaviour of the motor can be achieved.
