Mitsubishi Electric presented the next generation, version 3.0, of MAPS (Mitsubishi Adroit Process Suite) at last year’s SPS IPC Drives. MAPS 3.0 is the optimised HMI/SCADA life cycle management software that offers virtually unlimited scalability for versatile use.

MAPS is a software tool that significantly reduces development effort and the associated costs during the lifetime of a system. Unlike conventional PLC/SCADA integration tools, Mitsubishi Electric’s Suite can be used during both the engineering and integration phases. Its scalability and flexibility make it easy to implement system expansions and carry out maintenance tasks.

The third generation of MAPS also allows the integration of Mitsubishi Electric’s GX Works2 PLC programming software for the first time. This perfects the PLC/SCADA wizard that significantly reduces development and configuration time. Moreover, it standardises and structures the design, which also simplifies system maintenance. At the same time, the integration of the GX Works2 software facilitates the reusability of already existing PLC libraries.

Compared to its predecessor, MAPS 3.0 is characterised by the optimisation of the user-friendly engineering environment, the security provided by the protection of individual pages, tag management, the alarm system and language selection. With an integrated keyboard, the new Suite generation can now also be used for clients who purely work with touch screen applications. Additionally, it provides the user with more than 100 free third-party systems drivers.

With MAPS, users can automatically generate their reports for I/O schedules and TAG configurations for PLC and SCADA. This ensures that documentation is always kept up-to-date as the reports are database-driven. Even through ongoing maintenance they will always reflect the current system status. The flexibility offered from engineering through to system integration will enable the fulfilment of almost every customer demand. It also means that MAPS can be used in a wide range of highly demanding industries, such as water and waste water, mining, food and beverage and life science.
