Moog Inc., a worldwide designer, manufacturer, and integrator of precision control components and systems, celebrated the successful first flight of the Bell 525 Relentless, designed and manufactured by Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company. Moog Inc. is the provider of the Bell 525’s fly-by-wire flight control actuators that control the helicopter’s heading and pitch in response to pilot commands. Moog’s triplex redundant Main Swashplate and Tail-Rotor Servoactuators offer increased performance and safety over conventional actuation systems.

“First flight represents a significant milestone in any program’s evolution,” said Tim Baptist, group vice president of Moog’s Aircraft Group. “What was accomplished today is a testament to the hard work and determination of a lot of dedicated people. I congratulate Bell Helicopter and everyone on the team who made this momentous occasion possible.”

The Bell 525 is the world’s first fly-by-wire commercial helicopter, designed to operate safely and reliably in austere environments with decreased pilot workload. The aircraft integrates critical systems data to be easily accessible at-a-glance with the first fully-integrated touch screen flight deck designed for helicopters. Best-in-class payload, cabin, cargo volumes, comfort and egress complement the technological advancements on the aircraft.

Moog Inc. is a worldwide designer, manufacturer, and integrator of precision control components and systems. Moog’s high-performance systems control military and commercial aircraft, satellites and space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles, automated industrial machinery, wind turbines, marine and medical equipment.
