New solution for the series production of asthma inhalers by Pfuderer

Rapid project completion thanks to an international sales and service network
Pfuderer Maschinenbau GmbH has developed and built a solution for the series production of inhalers in record time. Jay Precision Products India Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of medical products based in Mumbai, put the assembly into operation just nine months after placing the order. Asthma inhalers are assembled and function-tested on the cam-controlled ring transfer system. They are fitted with a reliable in-built counter which shows the user how many units are remaining. This was a challenging project as the assembly and testing of such tiny safety-relevant components requires particularly high precision.

Forces joined for rapid success
The order was fulfilled jointly with the teamtechnik Group, of which Pfuderer has been a member for a year. Immediately after the merger of the two companies, Pfuderer, which specializes in fast-cycling assembly and test systems for medical and automotive technology, made Jay Precision Products an offer via teamtechnik’s international sales network. An order resulted just two weeks later. The requirements profile for the assembly included careful testing of the counter and reliable rejection of defective components, as well as the output of high unit numbers. Ulrich Traffa, CSO at Pfuderer, describes the project plan for the assembly: “The challenge was to arrange and integrate four test camera stations correctly in a system plan with a total of 28 stations.” The machine was installed at the site in September by a service team from Pfuderer and teamtechnik. Since then, production has run at 60 cycles per minute with availability exceeding 90%. Jay Precision Products has already signaled its interest in the purchase of more assemblies.
